The Sweet Spot Between Doing Nothing and Doing Too Much

There’s a version of a “perfect Saturday” that feels like it should exist.

You wake up early.
You’re productive.
You reset your entire life before noon.
You drink something green. (Who is she?)

And while I love the idea of that… today was not that.

Today was better.

I started the morning with a breakfast date. Eggs benedict, which already feels like a small win. Add in a walk after, in that very specific kind of weather where it’s warm, but not too warm, and suddenly everything feels a little lighter.

No rush. No pressure. Just… being a person.

Now I’m sitting on the patio, laptop open, doing a little work. Not in a stressful way. Just enough to feel like I didn’t completely abandon my responsibilities. The dog is nearby, the water is right there, and it feels like one of those moments you don’t try to improve. You just let it be what it is.

Later today, I’ll watch the Kentucky Derby, get a little dressed up for a birthday party, and call it a full day.

Nothing groundbreaking. Nothing wildly productive.

But here’s the thing I’m realizing lately:

Life doesn’t have to be all or nothing.

It doesn’t have to be a complete reset or a complete mess.
It doesn’t have to be “I got everything done” or “I did nothing.”

There’s a middle.

A version where you:

  • get outside
  • do something fun
  • move your life forward just a little
  • and actually enjoy it while it’s happening

And honestly… that version feels a lot more sustainable.

I’ve spent a lot of time living in extremes. All in. Burned out. Reset. Repeat.

But days like today feel different.

They feel like balance.
(Which, if we’re being honest, is something I’m actively working on this year.)

Not perfect. Not optimized.

Just… right.
